I recently upgraded my 90 gallon to a 220 when I moved. Unfortunately I lost all corals in the move due to my heater shutting off at my old house before I could get everything moved and the tank temp was in the 50's. So with a new tank how long should I wait before adding corals? I used new lives and and transferred live rock from my old reef tank. I will be looking at adding Sps and lps mainly.

I'm curious what others with more expertise will say. But I think once you get Alk-Ca-Mg and pH stabilized and have gotten past the 'new tank uglies' should be fine. My tank reboot used cured LR and and lots of used but 'cleaned' sand. Still went through new tank uglies at about 3-9 months.

There is no magic number here. You will need to monitor your parms just like you would with any new startup tank, and once they stabilize, you should be good at adding things. Did you use the same sand from old tank, and if you did.....was it rinsed? The rock shouldn't cycle much.
