Hi,
I have a 6 ft 220g tank. I thought an echo tech M40 would be crazy circulation for my tank. Not at all. Anyone with big tanks- how many m40s do you have and how do you position them? Thanks!

You're not going to like my answer. I have a five foot 90 gallon tank and have four MP40's and one MP10. I've redone my tank, but the MP's are in the same position as this old picture.

You need lots of pumps, the more random flow the better. I’d suggest 4 mp40s or 4 gyre 350s which is what I’m using on my 210 build and 2 sea swirls on returns

MP40 just doesn't cut it on big tanks. Got to go MP60 or MP80.

Their really isn't any easy answer to this. On a tank with no aquascape it would be easy, no obstructions. I am building a 225 gal 72x30x24 tank and I plan on using 2 MP40's and 2 Gyre 350s to start. I know that combination will turn the tank more than enough, but I won't know for sure if I like the circulation until I have my tank wet and I get to see how the aquascape effects the circulation.
