Hello All. Have a 5 month old 125 display tank plus 40g sump wit refugium. Have added 5k pods here and there mixed between the main display and sump. Finally wanted to boost my pod population really good to help with overall cleanup more than a food source. Ordered 4 of the 5280 mixed pod jars. This was my process of adding. Turned off return pump, turned off mp40s, turned off lights. Added all pods to main display. Waited 20 min. Then turned everything back on.

Just making sure my method was ok? Few days have passed now and I hardly see any lol.

Just keep in mind, you added 22k little mouths that may not have the food source to sustain their populations. I would assume that is the case given that the 5k you had already added should establish if a food source exists and the population will ebb and flow to that source availability.

What I don't mean to say is go out and buy a bottle of phyto as that will just foul your water. Give your tank time to mature and you should start noticing the pods sustain a healthy population :)

My tank took quite a while (maybe 9mo-1year) before my pod population boomed. Just around the time when the rocks started looking healthy with coralline algae.

Agree, they will increase and decrease according to their food supply.

Really it only takes a small amount to establish a pod supply, they reproduce fairly quickly if they have a safe place to breed and food source, but I have dumped a lot like this before when I was trying to save a mandarin I rescued, as I wanted an immediate food source.

I dump at night, but I don't even bother turning off pumps, not that it really matters that you did.
