Hello,
I got a 24 gal. aquapod about a month ago and set it up using crushed coral on the bottom, did not have any live sand at the time, and added about 12 lbs. LR and I used old water from another tank. I added more rock since then. I have a zoo rock and about 25 ricordea in it. All the test are normal. The tank is factory. I did not change or add anything. It has 2 36 watt pc's and the filter has bio balls and carbon and sponge in it. It was doing fine untill a couple days ago and it started getting just a little cloudy and the rics do not open as good as they was. The 2 percs I have in it and eat fine. The only test I have are nitrite, nitrate, ammonia, and ph. PH-8.2, the rest are all 0 and the salinity is about 1.022. Any clues how to make it do better or whats wrong? You know I am not the smartest reefer out there, but I try real hard and still can not seem to get it right. I look at all your tanks and they look awesome and all the corals look happy. My fav. is ricordea, but it never seems to look as good as everybodys on this forum. What am I doing wrong? Thank you very much for even looking at my thread!

My guess is that maybe you didn't go about the cycle the right way, the current bio load could be too high? I think it's best using sand and new salt water. Also take out the bio balls and sponges and what kind of flow do you have currently?

yup, start taking the bio balls out 1 by 1 and raise your salinity up too around1.026. and do a water change with new ready made water

Right now I just have the flow from the return pump in the filter. I have a few loose ricordea that I was trying to get to attatch to rock and the mini jet I had in there was blowing them around.

The light came on when I was asleep and it is cleared up now and the ricordea is back to looking good. The rics are not very big yet, I just got them from Gateway a couple weeks ago. I will take the bioballs out. Its got ceramic rings in it to, should they go also? I have pleanty of live rock and I am doing a water change with fresh salt water now. Any more advice is wanted and needed. Thanks!!

Filter floss is all you really need, in the back chambers. The sponges will produce nitrates.
