What's a good, smaller size 24 watt ballast for diy t5? I'm going with 6 or 8 bulbs. What about workhorse 3 or Universal B224PUNV-C001C 24W 24 Watt ?

I don't understand too much about the ballasts, but I heard very good things about workhorse.

I saw in another thread couple days ago that "Fullham racehorse ballasts are the higher end version of the workhorse ballasts and have programmed start/end of life protection and can run 1 or 2 bulbs each."
Try contact this guys and ask the right ballast for you...

Hope other would be able to give more specific instructions and tips about t5 ballasts here.
I run ATI fixtures and their ballasts come with the fixture.
They are very liable, but I believe they need the cooling from the fixture.
Good luck!

Avoid workhorse ballasts and get true T5HO ballasts. A simple trip to Home Depot will get what you need. You want Centium or HEP ballasts. Plenty of online stores carry them as well

Thanks very much, rtparty!
I'm glad you came over...

I went to home depot and I found 2 Phillips for 54 watts. Called the 800 on ballast. Rep said the lowest it wouald go is 4 39watts.
I found these online and some other ones. Looking for something cheaper if possible. Bulk reef has the hep. There about the same price I think. http://www.ballastshop.com/b228punv-n.html
