240 gallon build

Holy what, it's been two months since I got the tank up and running, here's a little update and some pics.

Got pellets (thanks Bob!), GFO, and carbon up up running for about a month now. Amazing how much the carbon helps with water clarity.

Ok bad news first. This may utterly shock and awe, but my regal tang got ich. Unfortunately, my naso was not able to handle it and passed, but the regal fully recovered and no one visibly showed signs. As for my other casualties, my black clowns got a little too close to the power heads and got stuck before I noticed. The talbots also picked each other off.

Ok good news, almost all my coral are doing awesome and showing lots of growth under the reef radiance LEDs. The fish are fat and happy and the red cyano I was fighting all but disappeared while I was down south.

Couple pics

Sorry to hear your Naso didn't make it. :-/

How much GFO and carbon are you running in your reactors?

Brandon

Lookin good man. Sorry to hear about the loses. That torch looks real purdy!
Thanks man, that torch is definitely one of my favorites!

Looks good. Those tangs do look small.

Looks Good Nate!
Thanks guys!

I'm definitely bummed about the naso as I don't like losing any fish and I wish I had a bigger tank to QT these big guys. At least I'll have my QT ready for anything else I get and I dont plan on any more big boys. I started with a cup of both GFO and a cup of carbon. BRS recommended almost 3 cups for my system volume on the GFO, but wanted to start slow and it really seems to have helped. I probably will redo the reactor lines with braided thread when I have a chance since the regular line has a slight crimp, but other than that the manifold setup seems to work well. Looking forward to seeing your sump pvc overflow setup so I can see if that will work on mine!

Quick vid- I traded in my red cyano for some green. Starting to retreat thankfully!

ok nate great video but.. i'mma have to take away some points because you took the video holding your phone upright and two you posted that upright video on Vimeo .....

^^^ and i know not everyone will get it

That was an incredible video! If taking vertical videos is so wrong, I don't want to be right. Ok, next update will be full horizontal. I have a friend in town doing some tunes writing but will try and do a better update next week, including my reactor manifold which has been working great!

p.s. Hey Ryan shouldn't you be getting your tux ready instead of spending your time on YouTube haha, you getting excited man?

Ready for it to be here Nate. I'm tired of waiting and not being able to add corals to my tank. Lol

Really excited though. TEN days!!!
