Hello,
As Im sure you all can tell my name is Jason haha. I have been addicted to saltwater since the age of 8 when I used to live in southern Florida and make trips almost every weekend down to the keys. I set up my first saltwater aquarium when I was 8 with my father which featured a 20 gallon tank, an under-gravel filter, fluorescent bulb, a big blue dyed brain coral, and all the critters I could get my hands on. As my love for the hobby grew and grew so did the number and size of aquariums. I made it up to a 125 gallon and several smaller tanks. 5-6 years ago due to unforeseen personal issues I had to get out of the hobby. Then in March when all of the planets aligned and I could no longer resist the urge I set back up an aquarium I have had for quite a while. It is a 75 gallon aquarium which my parents bought for me 19 years ago (time flies way too quickly!!!.) However, my lust for an Achilles Tang and the fact that I have 2 angels which will outgrow this tank I have decided to upgrade. Granted the 2 angels are very small I still just wasn't happy with a 75. So 3 weeks ago I placed an order for a 96x24x24 acrylic aquarium which should be delivered sometime this week. I took two weeks of vacation from work just to plan and prepare for its arrival including bracing of the floor and building my own stand. So far all of the equipment I am using is transferable onto my 240. It includes:
3 Kessil a360we (1 being used over my quarantine tank)
Vortex 200 alpha
apex neptune gold
dc12000 return pump
2 jebao rw15 pumps
150 gpd brs rodi
300w finnex heaters
tunze 3155 ato
40 gallon rubbermaid brute ato/kalk container
I have bought everything for the 75 with the thought that I would upgrade. I just didn't expect it to be this soon haha.
As for my sump under the tank I will not have one. Since I no longer live in Florida sadly.....I moved to the midwest where we have this great thing they call a basement! I have drilled holes in my floor and am running plumbing into my basement where I have a 100 gallon stock tank. Also, as a side project I have a porcupine puffer which will live in the 75 gallon that i tear down until he outgrows it. It will serve as a home for him and his buddies and a refugium as well.
I will post some pictures of the 75 soon as I upload them to a host and read about properly posting pics.
