I am hopefully less than a month away from getting my first tank set up. Dimensions are 62x30x30 and I am planning to go LPS dominant for corals. Would love some feedback on compatibility and order for some of the fish I am hoping to get. This is also the general order I was thinking.

I am really interested in what I have read are some of the more peaceful damsels and that they do well in large numbers. Would it be better to add a few of several different types (azure, yellow tail, springer, lemon, ambon, rolland, talbot) or pick one or two and have 6-7 of each? Please let me know what you think!

1x Foxface (Magnificent, Lo, or One Spot)
1x Blue Spot Goby/Tiger Shrimp
1x Midas Blenny
1x Pair of clownfish (not sure which type - recommendations based on the rest of the list?)
Large school of damsels - thinking 12-15?
2x Bellus Angels
1x Longnose Hawkfish
1x Adorned Wrasse (or maybe a Christmas)
2x Blue Throat Trigger
1x Yellow Eye Kole Tang
1x Convict Tang
1x Purple Tang

What do you think?

Looks like you have a really great list there! I have a two-barred rabbitfish and it is my favorite! I am extremely prejudiced against damsels, they can be very territorial and I have seen one kill a clownfish just because it was there (in a 200 gal tank). For schooling, reef-safe, and community-friendly, I like anthias, cardinalfish, or chromis.

I have had great success keeping schools of blue-green chromis. HOWEVER, you really need to find someone selling responsibly sourced fish because these particular fish are often victims of cyanide collection and poor shipping conditions so they are a ticking time bomb of death before they ever get to your tank AND (lol) overflow boxes are the arch-nemesis of chromis so an overflow guard is a must for larger tanks. Anthias too if you get a good group (no more than 1 male) the school should live fine.

I am getting a C2C overflow and the tank is euro braced so I think I should be ok? By schools of chromis do you mean 3 or 4 or many more? Chromis and anthias are a bit larger than damsels and don't want to overstock. I would like to slowly build up to a fairly heavy bioload but I feel like I have quite a few larger fish on the list already.

Yeah, I mean it is up to you. I had a school of 5 in my 125 gal along with 2 tangs, a clown, two gobies, and a fimbriated eel and my nutrients were easily controllable. Or a school of 12 in a 400 gallon with a huge bioload and it was no problem. I think it is a good idea to prioritize a peaceful schooling fish because in my experience it chills out the whole vibe of the tank.
