I'm cycling my first reef tank as we speak. It's a 24g cube. It'll be a mixed reef for a couple of months, and eventually become a frag tank. I need circulation. What are your top 2-3 best recommendations for powerheads/wavemakers for this setup?

I can speak to the Tunze Nanostream Turbelle. Very reliable, options for stream directions. Very quiet. (i have cheap powerheads I use for other purposes and the the difference is very noticeable to my ears). They use strong magnets with rubber attachments that absorb a lot of the vibration.

They come in two options, controllable and non-controllable, I have the non-controllable that are hooked up to an apex and use a schedule to mimic tidal flow.

They claim to be self cleaning, but I find I need to clean them monthly as any build up does affect their ability to spin with my schedule of on/off several times a day. I their defense, this was happening during a long dino/algae breakout that infested everything including the pumos, so it's possible the sticky mucus of the dinos affected performance.

My tank is a 29g aqueon.

One plus, but I can't tell from your plans (mixed reef to frag tank) is they can be placed behind rock work as they attack parallel to the glass and the diverter can angle the flow away from the glass.

Tunze is a German company that has a solid reputation within the hobby

THANK YOU! I do like the idea of controllable, since I won't have an Apex for a while. I've seen Tunze show up as a recommended pump a couple of times. So, like two of these?
