My new bare bottom rebuild has been cloudy since Oct. 9th of 2019. I had enough and added a 25 watt Aqua Ultraviolet sterilzer.

First photo is before. Second photo is 24 hrs after adding uv.

I got a cheap UV sterilizer (AA Green Killing Machine 9 watt) when I had bacterial bloom--which was new to me. I was told it would probably clear up in 2 or 3 days. It did get better after 2 days, but by then I had order the sterilizer. I ran it for 24 hours and my water was crystal clear. I pretty much run it all the time now. Eventually, I'll get an in-line UV sterilizer.

I'll be running uv for the foreseeable future as well. Bare bottom systems are HARD to get going.
