Hey everyone! I'm not new in the hobby,Just not very well with plumbing etc, I bought a 250g tank and it's already drilled at the bottom (3 holes) 2 are on the left side and 1 right in the middle, This Cofuses me a little, How does the return pump push the water back up if it's drilled at the bottom? I've not yet decided if I wanted fresh or salt, I have 100 gallons fresh and 75 salt, So not sure what I'd like to use it for, All know is I'm confused, I've tried googling stuff but no one really explains bottom drilled tanks. Any help would be appreciated :)

Each hole gets a bulk head, center is most likely overflow and returns on the end. After bulkheads you run pvc where your waterline will be.

Do you have a picture? Sounds like that tank may have been drilled for a closed loop.

Or it could have been drilled for a herbie overflow. The two on the side for the drain, and the one in the middle for the return.

Also, ususally with a bottom drilled tank there will be some sort of acrylic or glass overflow with teeth at the top so the water will go over the top of the overflow and then down the plumbing.
