Why cant Neptune build a salinity probe that is as easy to calibrate and as accurate as Milwaukee???
Just pumping salt water out of my startup...because apex said 34 when actually 50 ppt????
Did not trust Neptune's probe so bought Milwaukee's digital tester...1 minute to calibrate...exactly on the money for calibration test after ROI calibration
Spent 6 hours calibrating and emailing tech support to get Neptune's probe within plus or minus 6 ppt???

Should I get another spare...do these fail a lot...maybe 11 feet of head to much??
Rated at 15000 liters per hour at 0 head...was pumping 5000 to tank at 11 feet.
The error message was "The impellor stops running"

Ok..had these heaters...1250 watts ...supposedly...heaters from china
Could not heat tank
Put 800 watt Finnex in tank.
Have a spare that will go in at slightly lower parameters.
Controlled by apex.
Can you see the difference...your soaking in it))

Well I just read 15 pages of this build and I have to be a part of this haha going basement sump with our tank in the new house, curious to see what you do with pumps. Also my apex salinity probe is a blithering pile as well i bought a 20$ refractometer and never even bother to look at the salinity on the apex anymore it is unfortunate considering the price tag on said apex but whatever the system has saved me 2 times already so one bad feature is ok by me!

Also I currently run 2 500w finnex heaters i think 2 500w vs 1 800w would be a safer bet but im a firm believer in redundancy! My tank is a little 120G with 36G sump and it keeps the temp at 78.6 firm all the time controlled by the apex. I also run a jeabo pump, the jeabo DCT-6000 pump with 3FT of head it works decent i think 12FT would kill it quickly though. may have to go external pump to get where you want to be and have better reliability, but ill let you spend the money to figure out what pump is best before we put our sump in the basement haha. Also need a status update on the catfish!

I had a spare pump so replaced it and ordered another...will see how this next one lasts.
Emailed supplier that it lasted one week ...see what he does?
Manual gives flow volumes up to 5 meters of head so I assume its rated for that or greater?
Thought I had salinity probe issue solved ...once I put the finnex heater in temp stabilized (80.7-81.1) and then I just adjusted the temperature compensation for the salinity probe and wala ...reading same as my Milwaukee.
But 2 days later reading 4 ppt higher?

I have 2 800 Finnex heaters and I'm scared to put second one in Even with 350 gallons if one stuck on it would cook tank in a few hours. I think 2 500s would have bin lots for mine.

Yes you don’t want to introduce anything into your tank

It would take allot longer for to figure out something is wrong and by then your whole system might be infested

But in reality...I'm putting ...all the crabs... snails and algae into my tank...god knows what kind of tanks they came from???
