250000 litre pool conversion to reef tank!

Green algae is good at this point. Congrats.

Haha...thank you:)...but have not introduced it?
It came from live sand but coralline wont???
Would love to leave this tank empty for six months till coralline grows...so I could win bet...but cant wait:)))

Green algea is coming from nutrients and light not from the sand

As far as i know there is no dormant stage of coraline the stuff in the bottle is just to promote growth but my opinion it doesn’t help just keeping your parameters stable and that will grow so much that you will start hating coraline algae

You asked about the initial fish list that's on the way, the biggest issue I see is that there's no way the tank has cycled yet so you're going to be doing that with a list of fish that are normally only introduced to a system after it's stabilized. Heck you're still just turning on your skimmer and your going to dump in a bunch of tangs angels and a six line? If the intention is to put all the fish in quarantine I hope you have a bigger tank to do that in than the one in the pic or there will be a ton of fighting and you'll be lucky if half of them survive, and 15 hermits and 5 snails aren't going to do much as far as a cleanup crew. I'm not trying to be a downer but for someone that appears to have done a lot of other research I'm curious why you'd start the tank like that vs being patient and getting through a cycle first.

Also what kind of corals are you planning since the angels are normally hit or miss at best with them.

Thank you for your comments:) Yes they all went into Quarantine tank which is a 32 bio cube. I used the Complete cycle above and all parameters are stable. Lots of hiding places in tank..so I hope no one gets picked on. Have other places to move them if necessary.
Then used tank water to fill bio cube. They are all juveniles and amount to a total of 8-10 inches of fish. Talked to Ron at Aquarium illusions and this is how they keep their quarantine tank...by adding the Complete cycle daily. I will monitor parameters and make water changes when necessary.
Nothing much to clean up in DT..so starting slow with clean up crew:)
No idea about corals yet...but if the angels are an issue they can live in my 200 gallon refugium:)
Long way down the road till corals.
Had both these angels in my last reef and they behaved them selves if well fed.
But yes ..could be a problem and will keep a close eye.
If nothing else I enjoy for 6-8 months then trade at LFS.

Where did green algae spores come from?
Yes ..the purple up is just ionic calcium and traces...but I could not help myself...had to try it! Still hoping there is traces of coralline in live sand.
Got s few snails and crabs in DT now so hope they spread seed all over:)) Purple up cant hurt?

All water has the ability to grow algae (with the help of light of course) it the nutrients in the water
Unless you have something like a full dose of chlorine (like a pool)

Not in a new setup can’t hurt but be careful because it can make your trace elements go out of wack
you don’t want to overdo

Thanks to J&L aquatics for a speedy and healthy delivery:)
All livestock and macros came in Styrofoam boxes double protected with cardboard boxes with 4 heat pads per box!
Picked up shipment yesterday at airport. Complete list above. Acclimated for two hours and into quarantine they went!
Fox face looked rough. But have since learnt this is how they look after kept in dark. Checked tank late last night before bed and Foxy was laying flat on bottom...colorless??? Thought she was dead:(. 5 minutes of light she's swimming around brightly colored and frisky??? Same thing this morning...I thought wrasses were the only ones that play dead:)?
Yes ....there was some scrapping ..as expected...between beauty and flame. But all eating and exploring their new surroundings!
Ammonia...0
Nitrite...0
Nitrate...1...coming up... will water change tomorrow.

Sooooo...question?...or 2:)
I am quarantining several fish in same quarantine tank. Will any ich not just cycle from one fish to another...at a low undetectable level of course.
Would I not have to quarantine individually for the ultimate result of no disease being introduced to tank?
Would I not have to treat all of them now in quarantine to ultimately prevent this?
Do you guys use copper in this quarantine regardless of visible ich?

I have a herd of Bison.
I automatically deworm on entry any new animals. Is this not a good practice with fish?
Copper for ich...at the very least?

By the way!
Water temp on arrival from airport 70.8 degrees! How were they still happy and healthy?
My tanks stay at 80.8.
Assuming J&L keeps tanks at the standard 78...the fish went from 78 to 70.8 then backup to my tank at 80.8 in 6 hours?
These little creatures are tougher then we think when changes are gradual over time and get back to where they are happy for the long term!
But no wonder they get ich and other problems after shipment!

Some people do treat for ich regardless of if there are symptoms.
But the cycling between fish isn't a worry I think because if there is ich in that little system with that many stressed out fish you will see it. And then the whole tank gets treated...

Size doesn't matter!!!!
This is what all us male reefers have bin waiting to hear from our partners...not me of course...but you reefers:))!!!
Coral Beauty is twice the size of Flame Angel ...but in quarantine tank .....beauty is flames bi..otch!

Great answer! I wont treat till I see a problem...but cant help but wonder?

Its not the size! But how you use it! What does Flame have that Beauty is so scared of???

I do notice Flame and beauty are scared of tiny Dory...she has a little spike on her side that scares the crap out of them:)))

I quarantine all my fish. They go through 2 doses of PraziPro and a month of copper. I follow this guide: https://www.reef2reef.com/ams/how-to-quarantine.232/

Thank you Sir!!
I thought so!
I am a farmer and have 50Lb bags of copper sulfate around!!
Will start adding copper ..but does anyone out there have a recommended dose?
And is there any negative effects from this treatment?

Cobb 800 watt (output) Refugium Grow light.
Had it kicking around. It has switches for grow and flower so will see what works best.
Set it for 16 hours on...can these macros take 24 hours on?

Lots of fish are particular about copper. I'd check out the thread above (there are plenty of others too).
You know your level of precision with your stuff, but you will likely find it smoother with some seachem cup Ramin and a test kit. You can find both on Amazon and likely your LFS.

Cheers, Tony
