Hi Everyone,

I have an existing freshwater glass aquarium that I would like to transform to a small piece of ocean at my workplace. I have to also mention that I am pretty handy and if needed I can also DIY some of the things.
The tank is 23,6" wide, 15,75" deep and 15,75" high. I thought that I would separate 2" from the back with acrylic wall to hide some of the pumps and heater and other stuff or another option is to make in one corner small box for the equipment. I honestly don't know which is better. Maybe you can direct me to the right path or bring out the +/- for both variants.

I was thinking to go with dry sand and most of the rock I would do myself. If I'm correct then I should have at least 45 lbs rock. So I will do 40 lbs DIY rock and then 10-15 lbs I will buy live rock.
Equipment that I have thought:
Circulation: 2 pumps (or maybe even more) total at least 780 g/h.
Heaters: 2x50W
Skimmer: nano skimmer hang on or internal (if possible to hide)
Lights: DIY 10W LEDs (I like the shimmering effect that they make), I just don't know should I use 10000K, 15000K or 20000K.

Mostly I would like to have in the tank soft corals and some invertebrates and cleanup crew. The only fish that has to be in the tank would be clownfish, because I have two boys and they are talking ages about taking one Nemo into my freshwater aquarium :).

Sorry, I miscalculated the rocks weight. I calculated with liters. I think I only need 5 - 10 lbs stone :frusty:.

I have made some progress. I made the flowbox to the corener to hide the heater and pump. I put tinted film for background. Also I bought 20 lbs stone (this time the calculation should be ok - over 10 kg). My total water volume is 21g. Also the water is circulating for three days. Yesterday I tested the water, but I think I screwed up the Kh test:
Temp:24,5
Salinity 1023,5
Kh - 18
Ca 480
Mg 1320
Ph - I will measure today
Also I will measure Nh and NO3 today. I don't have No2.

Some pics from the building:

I try to build the lights this weekend, if I have time.

Todays test showed that the Kh is still very high.
Temp: 24,1 C/ 75,4 F
Ph: 8.0
Salinity: 1.024
Nh: 0-0,05
No3: 10
Kh: 16 (tested 3 times)
Mg: 1220
Ca: 480
