Thanks! Unfortunately the painting will have to be moved as the tank with the stand and canopy will come up too high. But this is in the dining room directly next to the front door so the painting will be moved right next to the front door, directly across from the tank.Looking good, nice work on the stand, that tank will look awesome where you have placed it, and the painting is cool also! Following along..
Calculated plumbing parts not including actual pipe (fittings, couplings, valves, elbows) and $500 what? I was not expecting that! This dang tank! Why do I have to be so particular? Why does everything have to be so perfect?
Mine is not a deep dimension tank. It's mainly the DD tanks that have had issues. Mine is 84"x24"x30". And most of those issues were in years past, I believe since then they've changed silicone. But we'll see, I'll for sure be getting it insured!Nice build, curious on your choice of Marineland 265 gallon tank. I was thinking of getting one but read about some of the seem issues on deep dimensions tanks. Can you tell me your feedback and decision making process?
Just recieved the 260 pounds of reef rock from Billy Hays. Still waiting on the other 40 pounds of flat sided base rock. But this rock is gorgeous, he really picked me out some nice pieces and fulfilled my requests nicely. A lot of nice shapes! I already rinsed it off and created a nice cave for my future eel with a hammer and chisel. I plan on placing this piece with the holes face down onto another concave rock to create a nice cave for him. Can't wait to start aquascaping, but need to wait for the base rock to arrive!![]()

^^Eel cave as it will be placed into the tank and how it'll be viewed.
Where do you get fish tank insured??Mine is not a deep dimension tank. It's mainly the DD tanks that have had issues. Mine is 84"x24"x30". And most of those issues were in years past, I believe since then they've changed silicone. But we'll see, I'll for sure be getting it insured!
My choice was based on very little availability of 7-8ft aquariums close to 300 gallons. This tank is actually discontinued and I bought one of the last 2 in the warehouse. No manufacturer makes a tank this size unless it's custom. I did a lot of research and I wasn't willing to shell out 4-8k on a custom tank when this one cost me 2k. Every manufacturer has fails and since it's the DD tanks that have had issues I'm not overly concerned.Nice build, curious on your choice of Marineland 265 gallon tank. I'm going to try with my USAA first, if they won't I'll try elsewhere but I know many people have their tanks ans and equipment insured, they just won't insure livestock obviouslyWhere do you get fish tank insured??
Good to know, I was quoted on a Deep Dimensions tank as well, so now I know it is mostly those with issues. Like your build a lot by the wayMy choice was based on very little availability of 7-8ft aquariums close to 300 gallons. I'll disagree. The tank is 30" tall, the tallest point on the structure is not even 20". That's plenty of room for growth. And while many like the minimalist scapes I don't... so while I thank you for your input I'm mostly happy with it the way it is.I think you have way too much rock. It looks cool now, but it doesn’t leave much room for coral growth. In two years time you won’t see the rock. I would resist the temptation to make it look cool now, and leave lots of space for coral growth. I would make two or three separate structures and would let one of the get just taller than the mid point of the tank. Thinking less than 150 pounds of rock.
