265 shallow lagoon

Great looking tank!

I am curious though- I thought a shallow tank *usually* means 18" and under? Most tanks I know are around 24" and over 24"(30") at some circles are called a deep tank?

I think that you can't just say that 18" is the limit of the shallow tank. I truly believe that it depends on the dimensions of the sides of the tank :) If you have small tank or large tank the limit is totally different IMHO. And Who can say what the limit is? In Finland that's the shallow one.

Nice tank! Are you using original hydras or hydra 52 lights? Thanks

Can you smell what the rock is cooking?? Little bit of salt and butter and maybe some white wine

omomoooom...
You weren't really cooking your rock, were you?
Heating it up on the stove can release toxic fumes into the air that have put whole families in the hospital. Very dangerous.
This is not what people mean when they say they are "cooking" their rock.
I really wish everyone would stop using that term.

Yes I was. It's common way to sterilize the stones, that has been outside for years. I was sure that there were no corals on it. It's totally different thing to heat stones that has euphyllias, palyzoas, zoanthus etc. attached. Those were pure stone, nothing else :)

Ok good. :)
Saw they were white so thought that might be the case.

Still hate the term though. People get things mixed up and think you can do that for rock full of pests, too.
Scary! haha

Carry on. Looking forward to the new tank!

But you are right about that. It will be dangerous if you don't know what you are doing :)

I Have some ideas about the new tank and I will have it on week 38. More about that when I'm sure about the size. I will know it on friday. It will be bigger for sure.

Allright. I ordered a new aquarium. The bottom area remains the same as this one but height will be 31 1/2 and volume is 395 gallons.

The story of this reef has ended. I will have a new one on the next week. I might have to start a new thread for that. Thanks everyone, and see you there :)
