265g Rolling Into a 220g

+1 on this. I ran a couple gyre's in my 250 for about 3 hours then pulled them and replaced them with MP40's.
I have read where the gyres had a hard time staying together on 1/2 inch glass that’s what was keeping me away!

Quick update I did change the scape again and I got a new toy!! Taking quite a bit of time to fill this thing up!

Wanted to do a quick update!! The tank has officially started its cycle. Now for the long wait!! Everything tested fine except I did have a small leak around one of my gate values I’m gonna assume I didnt put enough glue so I siliconed the leak and now it’s fine but here it is!!

Its actually not that hard, even easier if you use a Apple phone. You will love the apex unit. Though I am not an expert on the Apex, message me if you need help.

Thank you!!! I will be setting this up on iPhone. Quick question can control your heaters from the Apex? Or do I need a module?

You can control them with a Apex, you don't need a module, I control mine with it now, I also use Finnex titanium heaters that have t-stats on them, so I raise the stats on the heater above the setpoint on the Apex and use them as a second line of control.

I will do that perfect!! Also were would you recommend putting the probes?

I put mine in the return, I wanted good flow of water across the probes.

It was very easy to setup and update they basically walk you through it!!! Now i have an issue. My apex SG probe is reading 37.3ppt, My refractometer is reading 36ppt just calibrated it, My Hanna SG checker just calibrated as well is reading 33.6. Wonder what to believe now!! lol

Cycled a little faster than I thought so I dropped in so new residents to do some damage control on some algea growth!! Which they have, gotta love the tang gang. More fish to come. Moving them from my 125 to this tank probably in another month or so.

Well wanted to do an updated. My 265 blew a seam and it was not funn. :( So with that said I had to act quickly to move fish and all the rock. All the fish went into 20g tanks for now until I could find a replacement tank. I would not wish on my worst enemy for 200g of water in there house it was tragic. The seam failed on 01/10/20.

Well now that the 265 perished. I had to move forward to keep my pets alive. I found a good deal locally on a 220 and stand/canopy combo. So I had to get to work moving the old tank and setup the new. Unfortunately I didn’t take pictures in between, with me traveling and trying to kinda rush to get this tank in and ready I set it up as quick as I can.

I keep all my rock work stored in big Rubbermaid totes to keep cycled and feed ammonia. So now that I finally set it up I wonder if I can just drop the fish in since my rock has been cycling for 6 months. Here is the final setup of the 220.

Ugh, man that's a bummer. How's the cleanup coming along?
Tank broke the seal at 1:30am. Thank goodness I was home. So we managed to get mostly all the water up and clean. Thanks to the wife for having a TON of towels. Also had a GC come over to inspect for water damage and good news is that he said we did an amazing job at cleaning it up. I bought 2 dehumidifiers and fans. So far so good!!!

So what do you guys think?! Since the rocks cycled for so long maybe it’s safe to add 6 fish?

6 at one time is a lot but as long as you keep an eye on it I would guess.

was it a gushing water sound when tank blew seam? I am such a hard sleeper that I think I would have just slept through it if it happened to me

It’s was more of like a rain sound like rain coming off the roof and hitting concrete. I’m a very light sleeper and wake up to darn near everything. But I mean I guess it was loud enough to wake me up.
