New step into 29 bc

I know this might post is a newbi question but it confuses me really well.



1. I added live sand,live rock and ocean water from the lfs and is this an instant cycle?

2. I tested my water 3 days after the setup and it came out to be 0 nitrate and nitrite. What do I do?

3. Can I buy instant biological cycle in lfs and start adding livestocks?

4. straight forward tip for cycling the tank would be helpful.

Grocery store 30¢ for a table shrimp. Stick it in your sand bed showing halfway out. Let it rot. It will take your tank about 3 weeks to cycle. Till you see ammonia go up, then nitrates & nitrites. Ammonia goes down to 0. Then nitrates goes down and nitrites 0. Big water change and you are good to go. If you need instant gratification. Can't help ya. I am sure someone else can help, but your tank is not cycled. You just put things in with beneficial bacteria to start your cycle.

There are many products on the market that help to accelerate the cycle. Biospira and doctor tims one and only come to mind first. You can also add bottled ammonia (look in cleaning supply isle at your grocery store) to measure much more precisely the amount of ammonia you are adding to the tank.
