What equipment do I need to have to have success with a basic soft coral tank? Can I get a list of bulk reef supply items that I should get including which tank to buy? I want a simple easy to set up tank that can last me a long time.

How big are you wanting it to be? There are tons of AIO's (all in ones). These have the aquarium on the front and the back wall is divided out into filtration compartments. They operate like a sump that is built within the footprint of the tank.

What is a good one around 29 gallons?

Add a small circulation pump to get better water movement in the tank and the rest would be built in. I got a 14 gallon biocube back in 2010 and it is still going. I've replaced the bulbs, 1 cooling fan, and just a few months ago the return pump.

Do the original heaters last because I had heaters fail on me with my freshwater tank and cost me fish?

Are there any certain fish along with the soft corals that are on your want list? They would dictate what size you need.

They make heaters with stainless steel or titanium shells that you have no worry of cracked glass tubes. There are a lot of people that believe in redundancy also. This would be having 2 or more heaters of a smaller size. This way if one quits working the tank will be held at a reasonable temp until the problem is discovered. Also with them being of lower wattage if one fails and stays stuck on it won't have the power to fry the tank.

I will get a single kessil for it its the filtration I am worried about

Its is tougher than I thought my freshwater tank was a lot simpler and its only had a single heater faliure over 5 years.
