My mom is swapping me for an old 10g I had laying around for her 29. Would you put an AI prime on it or what kind of light would you suggest? This is not my first option, but with my apartment being so small, and my stand being used as my entertainment center, she offered me her 29. I'd personally love a 40 right now, but I know that'd at least be 2 AI Primes, and I don't have the ability to spend that much right now with the price of the tank and everything else right now. What are your opinions? Wait and save? Just get one and stick with the 29? Is there any place that has the AI prime on sale?

I'd definitely go with the 40B over the 29-gallon. I have had both and in my experience the width of 40-gallon gives you a lot more options with aquascape and space for fish. I actually wouldn't get the AI Primes though; they are a single point of light and won't give good spread for the cost. I use the AquaMaxx Prism (link attached) on my 40-gallon reef and have no problems keeping even SPS and anemones under it. I'd recommend the 36"-48" light for a 40B. For $180, you get a really sleek and great quality light. I've had mine for 2 years now and it still runs like a champ!

You could get this stand and a 40B tank from Petco ($50 on dollar per gallon sale) for a great deal too.
