This was from a fb group I'm on.

Impressive size. And what a beautiful gesture to donate to their local museum aquarium. Love seeing stuff like this. <3

That is absolutely insane! I can't believe he grew it in a home aquarium, I've never seen anything even remotely close. I'm definitely going to head over to the Downtown Aquarium (edit: not Denver Aquarium) to check that monster out... I'm glad it's in my neck of the woods. lol. ;Wideyed

Can do! It's actually a really nice aquarium, especially for being in a landlocked state, in the middle of the country. Oh, and I had my Senior Prom there, but it was called Ocean's Journey back then.

Why do I suddenly feel old? I'm thirty five. Haha!

I'll click over to 35 in August. I hear ya. Weird saying, "yes, back in school, 20 years ago......"

Wow, that thing is huge!
I'll be 38 in a few months.. a 20-something at work was asking if I'd seen Ace Ventura. I said, yeah in the theater. Her reply, oh I forgot you are secretly ancient.. ;Dead

I got a couple of the larger Squamosa and Deresa from him. This Gigas is truly impressive. I took this when I was at his casa. That blue Maxima in the middle is probably 5.5 to 6.5 inches wide and it looks tiny in this tank. Those squamosas and deresa would not fit in a 5 gallon bucket and had to be moved in a rubbermaid.

Do you know, is he still rehoming stuff? I would love to get my hands on a few things in there.

Sorry to hear Josh is not bringing it to Texas. I know this was a hard decision to make. But I hope the Denver Aquarium will put up a plaque telling how this clam was donated by a hobbyist with a little bio about said hobbyist. Feats like this should be recognized and honored. It takes years of near perfect husbandry to grow out a specimen like that.

What a good chance! Why didn't you take the big gigas?

Couldn’t figure out how to move it, and wouldn’t take the risk of selling it to someone who didn’t know what they were doing. Weighed in at 102 lbs.
