Good day everyone, so im making the jump to a big tank, From 120 up to a 290. what are some of the best heater ideas out there for this unit, its240g display and a 75-90g refug. I am going to be using the Herbie method. The tank will be in my walk out basement, that tends to be cooler than the rest of the house in the winter, usually around 67-70d.

i'm interested in this too! I am moving into our new home and my 75 gallon will be the last thing I move. I will have a dedicated fish room and I am wanting to set up my 75 Gallon in there and I am wanting to up the size of the sump from the 20L to maybe a 75 gallon so I can tie in a 40-50 gallon Lowboy frag tank with it. and having more water volume would be a plus!

The fish room will be a little cooler during the winter as well, around 60-65 degrees.

do you have any pictures of your sump?

no pictures as of yet, I am just getting all the items needed to set it up, as I am upgrading from a 120g corner bow to the new monster of 240g display and 60g sump. in the next few months i may have .

I have a 270g display and ~84g sump in the fishroom right behind it. I run dual 500w titanium heaters connected to seperate Inkbird controllers on individual Apex programable outlets. The Apex is the first line of control to maintain the water temp based off of the Apex temp prob. The Inkbird controllers are setup as a failsafe incase the Apex does not turn them off for some reason.

I use a Ranco controller that is also powered by my Apex as a backup in case the Ranco fails. I have two Finnex 800W titanium heaters in my sump. I have two for redundancy

You should be fine with 500W heaters.
