I am going with mostly dry rock and adding a seed rock to get the cycle going, along with some nitrifying bacteria.

Just want to make sure....

What happens if I add the dry and live rock in the tank along with the bacteria? (I don't have a separate tank to cure the rock)

Just wondering. Are you prepping the dry rock with soaking them and checking phosphates first

I didn't. 2 1/2 years ago I just dumped it all in and left it to cycle. I never used a miracle in a bottle and it cycled in less than a month using "live rock and live sand".

I basically added a base rock that was dry and seeded it with live rock around it. I didn't add any bacteria in a bottle but my tank cycled just fine. Now everything is covered in coralline and you cant tell the difference.
most will suggest that you prep the rock in a brute container with a powerhead for a couple weeks and check the water as you go...it's really up to you and from where you sourced your dry rock

I started my tank in September with 20+ lbs of dry rock and 4 lbs of 'live' rock from the LFS. Also a 25 lb bag of aragonite 'live' sand. The tank cycled in about 3 weeks and today I have coralline starting to cover all of the dry rock. I really liked the look of the pure white dry rock, made the tank look so clean and sterile. As it is starting to get some forms of algae and coralline, it is starting to look dirty now :)

it honestly depends on what kins of rock you have. When i started my tank i got the caribsea dry life rock, and i didnt cure it .. I rinsed it with ro water and than saltwater and than put it in the tank and started cycle.
