My first attempt for some reason the clam lasted a little over a month then one morning i found the snails eating it trying to do better this time my numbers are below tanks been up for 16 months this time i will be trying a Crocea Clam is it ok to put it on the sandbed?

the only thing i dose daily is nopox

ammonia nitrite 0
nitrate 30
phos .3 (working on lowering them)
calcium 430
dkh 8.3
mag 1260

Ok - Numbers look a-ok
Remember the general requirements:

Good lighting for zooanthele
Moderate light and water flow
Temp no higher than 80
alk no higher than 9
salinity not to exceed 1.025
CA not to exceed 450
Nitrate no higher than .5 ( yours appears quite high)

Inspect for any pyramid snails which are clam killers

yea i started dosing nopox and doin water changes over the last month ive gotten them down to 30 they were 160 at one point lol oh forgot to mention i have 150g long tank with 3x ocean revive t247 lights have them running blues at 70% and whites at 45% about 8 inches off the water surface tank is 28" high

I have kept all my clams on the sandbed (unless on dishes in qt or babies in special cups. I had a crocea for 10 years on sandbed. Did just fine.Good luck. I have a soft spot for crocea clams. They were my first kept.

Looks good. Nice and open. Definitely not fully open, but that will come with adjustment.

Did you inspect for pyramid snails? Make sure to do this every night or every other for a couple weeks then down to weekly or so. Croceas will tolerate getting moved a bit to check.

Yea i did check for pyramid snails i didnt see any

Does it have nice white growth on the upper shell under the mantle? Ime getting a healthy clam is the most important and oddly the most difficult 1st step. On sand is fine so is the rock if it’s getting 300 par min is my standard for crocea personally with 400 plus better. They like a lot of light.

well its directly under a ocean revive t247 lights i have blues at 70% and whites at 45% they are 8 inches off the water surface and my tank is 28" high

I have no idea what par that is but hopefully enough! If it’s a big as it looks it’s probably a wild collected one which makes the light requirement even higher generally speaking that is.

Pretty. Opening up a bit more. It may want to move off that little bit of flat area you have for it. Might want to get a cup or larger rock or just put on sand. Nice coloring. I bet top down that is a beaut!

i thought about that but its already attached to the rock

Do some research please. That is the best thing you can do. If you do you will see the borrow into rock. So yes, they need a rock to be on. If ever exposed to air, be sure to burp them. Do check for the clan eating snails. Good advice. Give them some light and good to go.
