Depends on who/where you’re buying from. Any honest business or even individual seller should be will to honor doa if it’s completely out of your hands. I had a delay by ups , Dinkins order doa, they honored it.

I’ve had good luck with ASD in the past with a doa order. Very understanding and replaced doa things , otherwise they might offer store cred for another purchase, at least for livestock

Also depends on the health of the coral and how the seller packages/ships them. I had a package delayed last week by a day (again UPS) it then sat on my doorstep the next day in 95 degree heat for 6 hours as no one could get home. To my surprise everything was ok and all of them were euphyllia! I was certain I was going to have bag of brown water when I got home.

If packed well I wouldn't be worried about a 1 day delay.

Not sure why you say the seller is shady if they don't honor DOA because of shipping delays. Not the sellers fault and is most likely mentioned in their policy. I will no longer order anything alive because these delays are becoming the norm. I'll order through my lfs and let them take the risk. They'll even let me pick stuff up still bagged.

It might not be the sellers fault but it's definitely the sellers responsibility. Using the term arive alive only to then exclude shipping delays to which the seller holds the keys is simply paradox. It's called ACCOUNTABILITY which is usually instilled at a very young age. Unfortunately some missed that part for reasons only they truly know or have yet to figure out.

Guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

EDIT This is aquasd policy so I would expect them to honor it. The delay is not mechanical or weather related. The OP will loose on the shipping but not the corals. Many policies I've seen state they are not responsible for shipping delays period so aquasd has a pretty generous policy IMO

We do not give refunds. We send replacements and/or give store credit on future orders. We do not cover the shipping costs on replacements

  • Aqua SD cannot be held responsible for mechanical or weather delays by shipping company

This is one of the reasons I don’t ship coral. Between shipping delays and scammers, I don’t know how businesses keep their doors open. I hope the op will be made whole if there is a problem, but I think the days of guaranteed shipping dates are over.

I think sellers who really don't want to take responsibility for shipping should have a separate link where the buyer can pick a day and pay for it themselves which in all honesty puts the contract between the carrier and the buyer. PROBLEM SOLVED

I just can't stand when someone says we guarantee something but yet we don't in the same paragraph. Makes absolutely no sense to me and shouldn't anyone else. Either you stand by your product and procedures or you dont.

I bought from two vendors last week

Vendor A - two items. One was a Goni that didn’t open. Told me to monitor a few days. It never opened and died. Told vendor. They apologized and said a new one will be sent out Monday.

No need to pay sh. No credits. No arguing. No hassle or stress

Vendor B - bought 3 or 4 Goni. Mistake in packing. Got one I didn’t order. And missing one that I did order. Told vendor. They acknowledged the mixup. Apologized. Told me they will ship me the coral I ordered on Monday no charge. I was shocked. Again. No credit forcing me to order again. No arguing wellll…..you did get something at least! No stress. Apologized and told me they would make it right and send me the one I ordered. Today they mail me…they found the one I ordered and found a second frag that’s a little smaller and decided to give me both!

Sadly this is not the norm but these are examples of top quality customer service and how situations ideally would be handled
