Hi.
I already have a running qt tank with copper for 2 weeks already.
Is it ok to set up another qt tank beside it?
Im gonna be stocking it with fishes for a week and then run copper.
Would this cause any aerosol transmission or any other issue?

Perfect to have one set up as a Qt and other as hospital tank. Qt you observe the fish and best to have them eat before you place them in hospital tank if they have too. Make sure they cycle because this is where people go wrong and it's not always the disease that kills them it's ammonia or nitrites level.

unfortunately dino's-ores can be transferred through aerosol transmission.
I wouldn't run copper if its not required, there are better alternatives to that.

I have read that tanks should be a minimum of 10ft apart due to aerosol transmission

Hi Moogle, and Welcome to Reef2Reef!

Two quarantines, one with and one without copper is OK to do, but wouldn't set them up side-by-side. Ich, velvet and possibly other diseases can be transmitted tank-to-tank via aerosol dispersion, in the spray from your filter and from popping bubbles.

It's a great idea to observe fishes for a few weeks after a round of copper treatment, and before they're added to your display tank, just in case they're harboring something that may have been suppressed in copper.

Do remember that it's best to ramp up copper (if you need to use it) for each fish or group of fish, raising levels over two or more days to give the fish time to adjust to what is essentially a toxin (albeit at a survivable level, for most fish). That will have you either draining and refilling the copper tank each time you want to add a fish to it, or raising copper levels in "QT-A" while you're dropping them in "QT-B".

Got it! i treat copper as a preventive measure and not because i see signs of ick or other diseases.
what if i want to have the 2nd qt because I dont want to restart the copper treatment in the first QT when i add new fish and also of aggression issues.
So when i get new fishes im gonna be putting them in the 2nd QT and start treating with copper immediately.

So i guess what im trying to say is how would you go about having 2 QT tanks that will be treated with copper. but in my situation the first QT tank was set up first.
Since the 2nd QT tank wouldve just started copper. Do i need to maintain copper level at the 1st QT tank until the 2nd QT tank reaches 30 days?
i hope you guys get what im trying to say haha!

I dont think its good idea to keep fish more than 30 days in copper at therapeutic dose as after all its toxin and its harsh on fish. I think best option is to wait for QT 2 and watch for symptoms of ich or velvet without copper, copper will hide these symptoms. Then if you see no symptoms I would say QT 1 would be safe from aerosol transmission, and then you can treat QT 2 with copper although I dont believe it would be necessary after around a month of observation. You can always do TTM to eradicate ich.
