I have 2 MP40 QD on opposing sides. I've played around with the modes for months prior to adding first corals - However, after adding corals I ramped it up a little bit and removed the anti-sync. I have found that when running them on anti-sync I can increase the max power to 70% as they alternate intensity causing less turbulent water in the middle but giving good resting periods. When I have them both at independent even at 60% say on reefcreast mode it seems to be too much. I also have 1" sea swirl return fed by a vectra m1 return pump.

I feel the anti sync might be the ways to go but interested to know what others have used in terms of modes and intensity on a 48"L SPS tank.

Below is screenshot of current flow

Honestly the best thing to do is see how your coral react. At first they may retract polyps but give it a day and they may be happy as ever. Some of my coral, especially my millies, love to be just blasted with flow.

First, your tank is awesome looking!

I don't know how big your tank is but I'll tell you how I have my system.

I have a MP60 and two Tunze 6105s, total gives me a max of 80x display volume. Display is 72" 180 gallon.

My MP60 site at one end opposite to my overflow. One Tunze 6105 is on the over flow side with narrow nozzle that gives me further reaching and higher velocity flow. The second Tunze is positions 1/3 the way from the MP60 pointed toward the other Tunze on the back wall. MP60 is 100% during the day Reef Crest mode. The two Tunzes alternate between 40 and 100% every 60 seconds.

I'm blasting the heck out of my tank and the only reason I don't run both Tunze at 100% all the time is because I want flow to change direction.

I've changed positions on the one Tunze since this video but more or less this is how my flow looks.

For SPS I would run both at 100% constant...

I'll run both at 100% constant every few hours throughout the day. However, I dialed it down to 60% on anti-sync all day for the one closer to the sand and 70% all day for the one closer to the water surface. constant turbulent water movement, zero dead spots in the tank! NO poop settles at the bottom with this configuration.

Hard to argue with that!

Thanks for the suggestion, and the compliment!... Very helpful. I guess its better to just observe the tank and see how you eliminate deadspots and give good turbulent water movement while avoiding too much linear flow. I've decided on anti sync between the two it creates amazing flow throughout the tank.

Yes, I decided to run everything on anti-sync and this is great for reefcreast, nutrient export, short pulse and gyre. These actually work better when on opposing strength.
I've had the tank setup for awhile and so far have zero buildup of detritus... Its constantly in the water column mucking up my view but at least it ends up in the sump! Heres a better shot!

My coral seem really happy with me with my mp10s

Yes Vortech pumps are special for sure and I really doubt you can skrew up the flow in terms of which modes to use. However, I like the nutrient export, gyre, and reefcreast(more so because its recommended)
