Ok this might be a stupid question but I have a 3 gallon glofish tank my son had and its not being used. It's a plastic tank and did fine with freshwater. I was wondering if I can make this into a Pico reef project. Put it in my son's room. I think it would be a sweet little project fir me. I know tanks that small need daily topoff and things like that but will it being plastic be ok? I'm going to get a peice of glass cut for the top and put a hob filter on it rated for a 5 gallon tank. Put some sand and live rock in it and wait for the cycle. Any thoughts??? Will plastic be ok? Thanks!!!!

I believe it should, was it 8 lb per gallon of water?
Then 2 lb live rock + 1 lb sand +2 gal of water = 19 lb?
versus
1 lb gravel + 2.5 gal freshwater = 21 lb

I don't see why not

edit: 8.34 lb/ gallon

Ah, it took me a little for this to click. Lol. But yeah thank you much!
