Ok, this is really weird but a happy surprise. For the last 2 months i couldn’t ever get my nitrates below 5, raises over 10, water changes get it eventually down to 5.
Yesterday I test (and verified today with a new kit), and I’m showing basically 0. The api kit was already showing orange before, but the old kit and the new both show bright yellow now (maybe it’s 1). Tbe obly thjng I did was put this cheap cut to shape nitrate reducing pad in my hob filter. And did a small 3 gallon water change to remove some detritus. Could my tank have just hit a mature state that it’s processing nitrate better now? That came out of nowhere
