I have been considering up grading my lighting again as my ethereal fans can't be replaced due to lack of parts and I was thinking of Radion Gen 5 lights.
I have a six foot long by 20 inch deep tank and I am growing sps. Would you suggest 3 XR30s or 4 Xr15s? Give me your thoughts.

Either setup will work, although 4x XR15s will be cheaper (I went with a pair of XR30s and a single XR15).

fans are generally a generic size. I'd pull one out, look at the sticker, and find a fan. Noctua does a bunch of different sizes for different applications...

You can very likely find a fan if you look hard enough. They are like power supplies and there is always one out there. You might have to wire in a connector, but it is easy. If you just want new lights, then cool.

If 3 ehtereals are working now, then three xr30s are going to be OK too. xr15 is half the power, so you might need 6 of them. Nobody really knows, so these are all guesses.

I will caution you that this might not be an upgrade. It will be newer and different, but keep the old lights around just in case you don't like the new ones as much.

Well they do seem to be still working okay. Adding a new fan is a bit more complicated due to the way that they are constructed. I think I will just keep using them until they die. This will save a great deal of money, although I do like the latest technology.

I promise (well, nearly) that you can find a fan if you take them apart and look at the numbers. It is not like MaxSpect made these. If they are still working, then big whoop, but when one breaks, then give it a shot. Even somebody in your town that repairs electronics (like a stereo shop) can likely do this safely for not too much, especially if you take them all three.

Not the same, but not too different, I had to replace the fans in my MH ballasts and I just took them out, cleaned the gunk off of them where I could read the label. It was all in some sort of Chinese, but the numbers worked in a search and I found the same fans with the same Mandarin (maybe?) lettering and I ordered a half dozen of them. The went right on.

I would expect to find the exact same fan out there on the web. You might have to change the connector, but that is no big deal.

In any case, good luck since fixing stuff seems a lot better than spending more money.
