OK I have a 3 compartment sump/fuge, on left side I have the intake from the overflow(sock) and I belive this is where the skimmer will go? In the middle is a fuge with sand/rock/macro and lastly is the return pump going back into tank. Does this sound correct? With the skimmer being in same chamber as the intake? Thanks for the help guys!

Actually is this picture true? I was thinking the return went where the intake is...kinda confused now after seeing this pic. But the compartments are set up exactly like this only different dimensions.

This my 20 gallon sump

Got it second hand. I added the glass baffles, they did the plexiglass. I think that it will work for me

Can you see the writing on my sump? That is how my sump and DT is setup.

Mine is currently not running, im going to get it up and going today. Want to make sure I got everything in right order.

Nana yes that's the way I thought it went. I have your exact set up if that's a 20L . Just wanted to make sure the pump went on the side with the 3 baffles

Any advantage to having separate compartments for the skimmer and filter socks? I'm starting to design my 40 gallon breeder with a 20 gallon long sump and I was going to put the skimmer and filter socks in the same compartment.

That's the way I have been setting up my sumps for years.

Make sure that you put a baffle in the first section that will maintain a constant water level.
You skimmer will need that.

I think that it does not make a difference that is what I had planned up. I was thinking that it filter more. I maybe wrong that is what I think.

I think it is OK to have the skimmer in the first chamber. The only thing we don't normally do is putting the skimmer and the return pump in the same chamber. :-)

It is a 20L. Baffle hight's are as follows from left to right, 7", 10", 8", 8".
The 8" baffles determine water level in overflow & fuge area. The 10" maintains that level and the 7" determines the water level in the return chamber.

NanaReefer & AForys how is the sump coming along
