Apologising in advance if this is a stupid question but still learning marine equipment.

I have a Red Sea reefer 350 I am setting up and love reactors for control but am concerned about space - is there any reason why I cannot use a 3 stage fluidised bed with media in each stage for a reactor ? Photo attached. Appreciate need appropriate media.

thanks for any advice / assistance.

The biggest problem is the foam that contains the media plugs up. You would have a heck of a time keeping all 3 running sufficient flow through them.

Thanks both. Was looking to run carbon in one and Nutri fix pellets in the other third as spare (or may just go for 2 stage) fed by Ehium compact 600 pump 200-600lph. Would this work ? Thanks all for the help

Carbon does better with more contact time and slow flow and bio-pellets need a decent amount of flow. The biopellets also need a certain type of reactor to tumble correctly plus anything after the biopellets would get clogged with the bacterial product that comes off of the pellets.

Bio pellets can just be thrown in a media bag and placed in a sump with good flow over them. Done this for years.
