About last week I had the dusty brown stuff on my rocks on the sand. Now I have like stringy algae it’s brown on my sand and a little bit on the rocks along with green on the rocks. Is this normal being a new tank or is this something I should be worried about what do I do?

You are going to see a lot of different types of algae come and go as your tank cycles. For 60-90 days usually. It takes a lot of patience. I cant really see much in the pic, if you post a pic using all whites it may be helpful.

I’m guessing that you’ve started with live rock and sand seeing as you already have coral in after 3 weeks ..
can you give us a little more info about your tank and set up maybe ..
Parameters..
no2 nitrite
No3 nitrate
Po4 phosphate
Ammonia

Yeah I used to live rock and live Sand yeah I use live rock and live sand .

It’s looks like it’s stringy read some of the parts on the rock have a little bubble on them like a clear air bubble. My guess is that it was dinoflagellates Which from what I read can make you break your tank down because you’re so hard to get rid of but if it’s normal being a new tank and that’s OK

Dino’s is not normal in a new tank although it happens .. it’s usually caused by your nitrate and phos being at 0 for a while .. which gives them a chance to takeover .
Do you have any test kits .. or results

I’m at Zero for Phos. Nitate I’ll check now running GFO ALSO

Sorry 20 not 50

I’d stop with the gfo .. you shouldn’t really need gfo on a new tank with hardly any fish or corals ... it could just be cyno in your tank .. I would advise syphoning as much out as you can .. and add some bacteria dr Tim’s or something like that ..

Should I slowly stop GFO or just stop cold?

Just stop, and continue too test your phos every couple of days a see where it’s at !
Had you had high phos ?? Is that why Your running gfo ??

I just always ran it in all my previous tanks. Carbon and GFO dual BRS reactor

Also, should I continue my weekly water changes of 10%?

Do more flow and feed less . I used to have those for few weeks and now they all gone

Do increase the flow to the areas that have it?

What about vibrant?

Jason what dr Tim’s should I add?
