Hey everyone, I'm new here but wanted to record the progress of my tanks. My dad always had reef tanks growing up and now that I'm in my own house I thought it was time to start my own. My first tank is a handmedown 30 long. It has twin seaclone skimmers, and an AquaticLife LED 48" light (that I'm not super happy with). I got all the live rock out of my dads tank, and he's been helping me with everything so far. I added some Oscellaris Clowns, Chromis, a firefish, a shrimp, BTA, Star Polyp Frag, and a Blue Maxima clam.

Makeshift shop light while I waited for my LED light to come in. Also made a lid to keep my cat out of it.

Then my new light came in, so I added some Clowns and a Firefish, in addition to a shrimp.

Next we took a trip to Columbus where I picked up a BTA and Star Polyp Frag from Coral Systems, and a blue Maxima clam and tigger pods from Matts Coral and Aquatics.

Also added 8 Chromis after we got back, two did not make it unfortunately.
Anyway, thats my start so far to my tank. Its fairly bare at the moment but it will grow in time. Thanks for looking! Hopefully have some more updates soon.

Welcome to R2R!!! This is a great place to jump in and ask question from friendly, knowledgeable people! Good call on the lid - my cat and I still remember the day that she fell in!

(Note: although the story about my cat is true, the image is of an unpaid actor, not my actual cat.)

Yeah, fortunately he hasn't shown much interested in it after the initial setup, but I also am hoping that it keeps some of the fish that are a jump risk inside the tank.

The tank looks great, and welcome to R2R as well!

Looking good..:)
