When I first got into the hobby I put a 250w metal halide pendant about 4 inches above the water on a 33 long reef and absolutely roasted my coral.

Letting a neighbor “take care” of the tank while going away and after 3 days everything dead when we got back. Fish and 90% of corals. Was over feeding even though it was measured out “because they were hungry” and put all those chemical lotions in the tank because the water messed with her hands so she goobed it on to “pet the fish”. Worst mistake ever never allows back at the house
