300 DD Starphire

Very fixable, just a little drawback my friend. I wound tape the seam all the way up and reinforce the whole thing. Does it have silicone on the inside of the overflow too?

Nice build man!! I'm currently plumbing a custom 72l-40w-24h that we just placed Saturday. Second time putting in the house so I can concur you should fix it yourself. That much 3/4 glass is not light. Are you on MASC?

I think that's what I'm going to do. No silicone on the inside so I was thinking of taping it off and silicone all the way around the inside. Might be kinda tricky but I think it's doable. I am wondering why the manufacturer doesn't silicone the inside of the overflow? Seems to me this would be easy insurance for them to prevent any future problems like this.

I agree they should do the inside too, cause it's plastic that can warp under the pressure and come loose. Can you unscrew the standpipe and return at the bottom for better access all the way down?

Thank you. Your tank sounds awesome can't wait to see some photos. Do you have a build thread for it? Your right I think it's fixable myself. I don't think I could talk my friends into helping me carry that sucker up the stairs and a new one back down lol. No I'm not a member how do I join?

Ya I have to unhook all the plumbing to remove the drain and return pipes but I think that's the best way to assure a good seal.

Denver has a very active club, marinecolorado.org. Hope its ok to post that. I'm west of Glenwood if you ever make it west. I doubt I will do a build thread, its just to hard to keep up with. I enjoy drinking my coffee or beer and seeing what others are doing. If I get a substantial amount done today maybe I will post a pic in synergyreefs thread. It will be just the back half, its inwall. Long way off from getting the rest put together. I have all the pieces/parts just work to darn much.

Heard that!! We need to slow down on the work and drink a Lil more beer while working on our tanks lol. I'm going to check the club out, thanks for the info. I'm on that side of the state quite often for work maybe I can stop in and check it out sometime.

Yea my overflow leaked on mine too I just left it alone I run a full siphon on mine so know big deal for me have almost the same height of water in the overflow as the tank it stopped after awhile. Cant wait to see new pictures.

Wow can't believe this a common thing!! Where was your leaking? I thought about leaving it but I'm to OCD it would kill me!!! Lol i mean really it would kill me.

That's funny one of them was leaking in the middle of one side and the top the other was towards the bottom.

Well it's been awhile since I posted so I thought I'd give a lil update. Got the over flows all sealed up a couple weeks ago and all is good. I've got her full and running for about 2 weeks now. I made my own refugium light mount out of polished aluminum and mounted 2 12k panarama pros too it, It works and looks great. Started my Canopy this weekand and made some good progress!! If all goes well this week I should have the canopy finished and mounted by the weekend!
