300 gallon System on the same breaker as da fridge.......?

Depends what amps your breaker is.
Add up the amps of all the gear and fridge, assume all are 100% power, and if that is less than the amps on the breaker, your golden.... until someone plugs in the vacuum!

Watts divided by volts gives you amps.
Like 30 watt pump divided by 120 volts from the outlet equals .25 amps
 
I'd run two separate circuits and divide your flow across them with at least the return on with powerheads on another so that a single breaker tripping doesn't kill the tank. It's a small cost increase over running one, especially compared to the cost of what's going to be in the tank.
 
I would at least run a new 20 amp circuit for the 300 gallon. The problem with fridges is when the compressor first kicks on, you might over amp the circuit, shutting off power to the tank.
Depends what amps your breaker is.
Add up the amps of all the gear and fridge, assume all are 100% power, and if that is less than the amps on the breaker, your golden.... until someone plugs in the vacuum!
For continuous load, you need to be at 80% or less of the amperage on the breaker. So a 20 amp breaker should have no more than 16 amps continuously.
 
dont know about your place but my house is less than 10 old and the refrigerators are not on dedicated circuits...the 20 amp circuit ran to the fridge first, then to a gfi outlet with the additional kitchen outlets downstream of the gfi...cheap and stupid...my house is a modular so maybe their codes are different....your fridge outlet wouldnt be a gfi as compressors can trip them...give your tank its own dedicated circuits...if something goes horribly wrong you dont need a tank full of dead fish and a fridge full of spoiled food

thats for sure...in a 3000 sq ft house all 3 bathrooms run off one gfi outlet...meanwhile the microwave gets its own circuit...

Nothing strange about it....and i quote...."Although it's an accepted standard for homes to have a separate circuit in the panel for the fridge, the NEC does allow a refrigerator to be connected to one of the two required 20-amp kitchen counter receptacle circuits [NEC 210.52(B)(1)]. We hardly ever see it done, but it is allowed. And no other permanently installed kitchen appliances, like disposals or dishwashers, are granted this exception per NEC."


I will admit there is some confusion on it because it is more than just looking at the codes but also NEC clarification and exceptions and more confusing when you add in the various versions of the NEC as jurisdictions may enforce different versions.
 
The NEC is correct about having your own branch circuit.
Large appliances like these tend to be power hungry and relatively noisy to boot in regards to electrical interference. Even if they don't produce a back feed that is potentially noisy, the drop in power a refrigerator produces during the starting phase of the compressor could potentially harm sensitive electronics.

With the price and sensitivity of the equipment you plan on using, the cost of having a professional run a dedicated GFCI circuit will seem cheap. EDIT: A dedicated line for the fish tank.
 
You guys really do geek da **** out I love it, im just going to run 2 circuits 2 20amps, one for sump, the other for circulation heating. Not going to lie its like a 10 foot run to my pannel....... and a day of dry wall no biggie

Yes 2 dedicated 20 amp circuits for a 300 gallon system. I like to split it up on mine I have 2 pumps and 2 heaters one on each circuit for redundancy

Talon is largely correct here. The US NEC is essentially now the same as CEC. As per below. ...

'15. Refrigerators

2015 Code — separate circuit required for each receptacle installed for a refrigerator

2018 Code — separate circuit only required for mandated refrigerator receptacle

The existing wording of 26-722 required a separate circuit for each receptacle installed for a refrigerator. This requirement is now relaxed by permitting a dedicated circuit to supply more than one refrigerator receptacle. It has also been revised to more clearly state that the requirement only applies to receptacles mandated by 26-712(d)(i) for refrigerators in kitchens. The requirement does not apply to refrigerators installed in other locations '

As with all CEC and NEC wording on all rules they are up to interpretation by your local inspector. THIS is key.
