Thanks nanoreef, yeah my biocube has very limited space in the back. I meant to put this in the post earlier but slipped my mind, the refugium in the back is going to be six inches from the back glass. Im going to be sure to leave plenty of room for add on's. Although a sump would be a bad idea, its just the stand wont allow me to fit anything to big inside it unfortunately.Interesting idea with making it an all in one. I hate the design of my all in one because it limits my equipment so much, but it is great for being on the top of my dresser so ill have to deal with it. Although it will cost more, I would recommend getting a hang on over flow from eshopps or synergy reef then go into eshopps new nano sump. More room for refugium, skimmer, reactors, or anything else. Just my $.02. As for frag tank. Not only could you use a section of a sump, if you go that route, but I've got a ten gallon with 2 koralia's and a hand on back filter running phosgaurd and carbon. It really can be that simple IMO.

Good idea. I was going to paint the back and the sides if the tank. Didnt think about the equipment windows. If you're going to make it see through refugium , I would suggest you paint the back wall of the tank and also paint the sides of the insert , so that you don't see the equipment and only have a window into the refugium.
