If you like playing in your display and messing with corals you’ve gotta treat yourself to a FT. Here’s a few pics of mine, feel free to roam my build page (link in signature). I find myself wanting a larger FT each day but the truth is this set up is so simple to maintain, I’ll stay in my safe zone for now.

great little setup!! I'd be interested in seeing how you did the plumbing. I am waiting for my frag tank to arrive to start my build, and I'm definitely planning on plumbing it into my display. thanks!

Thanks, here’s a pic of my plumbing. Since I only added 30G’s I was able to use my existing sump set up for my 90g display. All I did was add a T connection and control/shut valve. I have plans to make this look a little fancier but that day seems to only get further away lol.

thanks for the picture! that's actually pretty simple. I thought it would be very complex, but I like to keep it simple if possible. it'll serve as a good inspiration for mine when i build it.
then I'll need to get me some sweet corals to make it look as fire as yours.

Just use plastic clamps instead of the stainless you see. I've since replaced those because they would eventually corrode.

I was thinking of doing the same thing by adding a 20G frag tank to my 75G (90G total) system. Did you go with 3/4" return lines and 1" drains?

What return pump are you using and do you find it sufficient ? Thanks.

You ain't lying. Flow on the boxes is about impossible to dial in without a spray bar.

This looks like a big FT upgrade. Are you still using the same pump and 3/4 in return?
I originally had a Various 4, it was rock solid, never had an issue but I wanted more flow even with the old set up, mostly for my SPS in the display. I ended up with a Sicce 9.0 and its waaaay overkill. I leave it tuned down to about 30% power, it’s crazy powerful.

I realize my phone cut off your return question but yes, it's 3/4 return, But, it has 2 constant returns and one emergency return. This overloaded My sump (E-Shoppe R-300) so I'm improvising a little, I'll send some update pics of the sump area next.

30% power means it will just last a lot longer lol. I always oversize my DC returns and run them lower. It also leaves room for growth if you ever decide to add to it, upgrade or supply a manifold with it.

Looks good btw. Love tied together systems.

That's the way to go. Oversize the pump and run it low.

Thank you and that's kinda how I look at it as well. Considering a 120G Display in place of the 90 so we'll see.
