I have an IM 30L with 1 clown, 1 firefish, 1 cleaner shrimp, and 1 emerald crab at the moment. I recently upgraded from a 10g AIO and want more fish! I don't want to have a crazy bioload but would like some active swimmers, hence the midas/maybe angelfish. I have a DIY air stone skimmer (based off the reefglass) that pulls very well. Will be doing 10%+ WC a week.

Would this proposed stocking list work?

Current fish/CUC
+ midas blenny, royal gramma, and either another clown or pygmy/flameback angel?

Another part of the question- if I wanted to get another clown instead of an angel, what type would become a mated pair with my current ocellaris (not designer or anything, just the ones you get for $20 at the LFS lol)? I know about the sizing, so I would probably be looking for a smaller clown. my current nemo is about 2in big. What I do not know anything about is the types that can pair with an ocellaris. I'm assuming other ocellaris, but i wanted a different type of clown. maybe a black and white, davinci, snowflake, or black ice. thank you in advance!

Use an acclimation box if you want to establish a pair. Gramma would be fine. I wouldn’t add an angelfish, tank too small

Normally I would agree with you, but this is a 30 gallon long which is a 3 foot length. I think that a Cherubfish (the smallest and best behaved the pygmy bunch) would do fine in a 3 foot long tank. The Flameback gets a bit bigger and tends to be more aggressive so I would avoid it though.

@ the OP a Lubbock's Fairy Wrasse would definitely add color and activity to that tank and would probably work (just make sure the tank has a lid). Here is what they look like:

Add the cherub last, I had a cherub that got to about 2 1/2” that would attack almost any fish in the tank. Least aggressive Pygmy I ever owned was a Resplendent, but that was back in the day, very nice fish.

Oh I agree it should definitely be last. I love the resplendent but it looks like it has the availability of a unicorn (and probably the price to boot). I see more complaints about the Flameback and Fireball pygmy angels then I do about the Cherubs though.

where did you put the stronger wave pump? i put mine on the side and it seems to stir up/move sand because it crosses with the return pump's flow.

Do you have a build thread? If not you should start one!

I am trying to put together a list of all the users here who have a Nuvo 30L.

hahah no i don't. i should have but didn't take pics when i needed to...
Never too late to start. It's nice to look back on as a sort of tank journal. Plus then we can all learn from what you are doing!
