30xh, thoughts?

well this is what I have so far

I wanted to get things going so here is the setup
the tank has a 40w 50/50pc bulb, about 50-60 lbs of sand (5g bucket full) 15 lbs branch rock aquaclear 110 hob filter, 100w titanium heater

as soon as I dig everything out of the fishroom closet these will be addet to the setup- 20 x 1w led light, small sump, sos overflow, rio 17hf return pump with scwd, 9w uv with spraybar on return and g1 skimmer with sedra 3500

I have to take a new pic this one is a phone pic from a week or so ago

Before you fill it with livestock, drain it and put an internal overflow in there. Then you won't have the issues with power outages. If you do it right, you can even make it silent. Also ditch the hob and add a Skimmer. Well be a fun Nano then!

well i forgot to mention this tank if a few seahorses, I am thinking a nps style reef with a couple low light softies

any recommendations for corals? cleanup crew?
the only thing I can think to put in for cleanup crew that wont bother the ponys is a sand sifting cucumber

I did. I just missed the skimmer comment. I know you have rock and whatnot, but if your planning on using a sump, I'd drill it. As for coral, a friend of mine uses xania, and chaeto (not coral I know) along with mushrooms in his display. Looks pretty awesome actually.

Chaeto isnt a coral, its an algae.

Besides that im loving the tank set up, awesome branch rock, great sandbed im not much help but id pick some overflow and return because seahorses dont really do flow well, they are very delicate

I was thinking about drilling it but i love the marineland sos overflow! totally silent will never lose siphen and cant clog and overflow in the 12 years I have had sw setups it is by far the best

What type of seahorses do you plan on keeping? Some other corals to consider are sun coral, carnation coral, and more gorgonians. I would do a cleanup crew of snails. They are seahorse friendly.

im not sure on what kind I am getting them from a friend

I was told no algae eaters including snails?

IMO, snails are fine. I have not had issues with them and seahorses. Peppermint shrimp are also pretty good for the most part. I would stay away from hermits and fighting conches.

Love the setup I really wish that I went with better live rock than what I did!
