320 Gallon SPS Build

Amazing tank fabulous shots.
Just wanna know u still running this light Apollo ? Or u add more lights? How many units do u used for Apollo and evergrow ?

I have 4 Apollo lined up along the back and 8 overgrow d120 lined up along the front. I kept the Apollo because I couldn't sell them at even 50% of what I paid. but the evergrow are better fixtures from an intensity standpoint.

I'm wondering now , if u get that amazing growth for chines lights , why no body trust the chines led ?

If you can get from A to B driving a Chevy why buy a BMW it is all in the person and objective. Having a technology background you learn quickly how fast technology is outdated. Semi-conductors double in capacity and effectiveness annually. So for me it makes no sense to pay top dollar for lights that will be significantly improved year after year. I will make a prediction that LEDS will be very thin panels that will be able to map your intensities and colors and the leds shrink to nano size while producing the same amount of light.

Raising hat buddy , I'm in big storm to choose my lights and keep confusing every time I heard about new light .
Start looking for top quality like radion orphek giensmenn AtI ,
But I saw very amazing tank with unknown brand and they are doing very well ,
If u have time plz check out that link about new fixture light , Malibu s300 and tell me ur feed back about this fixture if I use it over my 100 g tank

Latest released aquarium led
Thx in advance .

I dont like them:

1 - They are running the leds at 3 watts each which will give you about two years on the fixture before the leds start dropping.
2 - there is only 48 leds compared to the Evergrow D120 which I run that have 55 that they run at 2 watts.
3 - The price seems high.

Id look at the Evergrow D120 with the led layout that suits your need

I've never done a build thread. This has changed my mind for my next tank. Brilliant built with stunning beauty. Love it and admire your hard work.

I have gone through a similar situation of stn then rtn with no apparent problems apparent through testing, my question for you is I saw that you spoke about a whole tank antibiotic treatment, what did you use?

Thanks,

Kyle

Thanks, I am getting very good growth and corals are taking off. Ill try to get some pictures up. I love revisiting the build thread and it takes you back to changes that you have made and reminds you why. Also a well pictured thread gives you a base line of your growth. For example when I started having issues, I was able to go back through the pictures and narrow down the time frame when things started happening and then look at those changes at that time. When you start shoot me a PM I love to follow build threads.

I followed this procedure. Make sure you only use as last resort and read the article and all of its questions and answers. It works exactly as he described. I didn't lose anything but the jury is still out whether the antibiotic treatment or the 200 gallon water change and removal of my biopellets stopped what ever was happening.

Man this bad boy is awesome!

8 evergrow D120 with the balanced mix of 6500K, 4000K and 10000K whites. (Ebay)
4 Apollo Gen 2 White/Blue along the back. (only because I spent so much for them some time ago, the above lights are superior)

Blues 100% 12 hours Whites 20% 8 hours

Here is the layout in the canopy. I set up the front so that I can swivel them back and fourth. I change positions every so often with no set pattern. This is also set up around the center braces. I believe this minimizes the hotspots. This layout also solves the coverage issues with these fixtures.

Just finished reading this for the first time. To say that this is a "nice tank" just doesn't seem sufficient. It is a beautiful, healthy, natural looking reef. I don't think there is any way that I could achieve this and I have been in the salt water hobby for almost 30 years. The layout of your sump and plumbing is as professional as it gets. And this was your first plumbing experience??? Very well done sir! I have to follow this from here on out and hope that you continue to update the thread.
