I've just set up a 33 gallon long aquarium with just a canister filter, heater, and some lower end LED lights. I have a 75 gallon reef set up with lots of soft corals a pair of clowns and a large healthy purple tang. I also have a 40 gallon tank with a baby yellow tang CB. The 33 gallon has the same length as the 75 but is not as tall and not as deep. What are the best types of fish to add to this aquarium once I add some liverock. I was thinking about a small kole, mandarin goby, tang, maybe putting my baby captive bred yellow tang or even maybe a baby blue tang (will move into a large display tank once they get larger) over all just looking to see if anyone else has a 33 gallon long reef tank. Thanks!

I had had 33 longs before and loved them. I would never put tangs in one, but they make a good home for a couple of clowns and anemone providing you have good lighting to sustain one and a good home for a dragonette chock full of pods.

Clowns ofc, I would do a colony of dragnet if you know how to keep them, but I would recommend a tailspot blenny, they are small and cute and have somewhat of a character to them, same with my lawnmower blenny, I call him grmpy cause of the obvious lol. I might recommend a cleaner shrimp and maybe one true peppermint shrimp. Other than that I'd look into maybe sand sifting goby if there's enough sand as well as a sand sifting star if there's enough sand!

ah thanks, ill probably invest in some AI primes or some good coral lights for an anemone for a pair of clowns, as they are one of the easiest fish to keep in the hobby. The sand is roughly an inch deep but i have extra sand to add if needed. Dragonets i read about this morning but where can i buy Pods from? heard they'll devour them quickly. Is there a way I can get them onto prepped food? thanks!

You can adjust them to mysis shrimp, they actually have Biota Green Mandarins that are aquaculture to eat mysis already, a little pricier but much asier when they eat prepped food

Mandarins can be adjusted to frozen food but you definitely want to make sure there is a constant supply of pods in the system. I recommend algae barn. They sell tons of pods that can help populate the tank. Mandarins go after the baby ones so you should have no issue keeping a stable colony of them. They are very difficult to keep so make sure you do tons of research before buying them.

Agreed, and a fan of algae barn here as well. :)
