35 Gallon Mixed Reef II

I’ve got nassirus along with some other snails. I think I might introduce some type of starfish, but don’t know if that’s the best way to go.
Bristle stars, maybe? I'd have to study up on which creatures do what.

Bristle stars are good, there are usually hundreds of small ones in any healthy tank, I see them all the time. Many people buy larger species such as the green bristle star, however I’ve heard of these large species eating small fish that don’t move much (my watchman gobies and clown gobies fit right into there).

Also, I’m noticing large clumps of bubble algae, I wouldn’t say an outbreak, but I’m getting worried. I’m going to add an emerald crab when I see one.

Maybe a CUC pack would help. I'm still very much new to this side of the house, but maybe replenishing the CUC in general would be best instead of a single creature.

I love my conch too, he does a lot of work but he can't reach those spaces under rocks. My clean up crew has been lacking a bit. I'll replenish next time I go to oceans floor...sigh.

Tis the life of a reefer, i suppose. I'll be right there with you in a few months.

Have you ever ordered from reefcleaners.org? The best place to buy ceriths imo.

Here are some updated pictures. I got the new pump in last night so there’s a bit of sand on some of the corals but they’ll kick it out soon. Sorry it took a while to post, I have a US politics exam tomorrow I’ve been studying all day for.

I’ll have to check the shipping price for reefcleaners, they are where I got my live rock from and it’s amazing.

Nice coraline growth! Are you happy with the new flow?

Thanks, I am, the corals I really wanted to target were the zoas and they are getting awesome flow now. I may add some more rock eventually.

The clown goby is definitely struggling. He's supposed to be easy to keep too. I've been battling him not eating right for a while now and he's looking starved. He isn't eating any of the foods, I've only seen him take a few bites from LRS nano frenzy, and even that is rare. He seems to have no drive to even get the food. I'm not sure he will make it. Maybe I can make him a little pile of reef frenzy in his area for just him to eat.

Also, the clownfish is seeming like a bit of a bully these days, I've noticed both my carpenter wrasse and clown goby have slightly torn fins and I'm wondering if its the clownfish. I've had him for a while and will hate to get rid of him, not sure how to do that either. Hopefully oceans floor will take him.

That's sad to hear about the clown goby. I hope you can get it eating some more. When I was first thinking of stocking my tank I was considering the clown goby but I read some reports that they nip at SPS corals. The reports said it was nearly impossible to get them off of nipping SPS corals and onto prepared foods and they starved. You can try cyclops-eeze too if he is rarely eating the nano freeze.
Also about the clown, does it come up to you when you are feeding the tank? It's seemed like in no time at all my clowns recognized me and they'll take food straight out of my fingers now, so you could try and bait it with some food in one hand and then scoop it in the other, if it comes down to the clown being the culprit.

Mine definitely nips my acropora, forgot to mention that. So the clownfish and clown goby both have to go.

Woke up this morning and saw that the clown had died and was being sucked into a powerhead. I wish I could have gotten him eating, I wonder why he was so picky? I gave him two types of pellets, dried blood worms, dried brine shrimp, reef roids (I make a kinda paste for a fish that won't eat, I've never had a fish refuse), and nano frenzy. I wonder if he had a problem with his vision or smell, its unheard to me that a normal fish won't eat when hungry.

very strange. you would think in an established tank like this he would feel at home and would be eating in no time. And clowns are known for not being picky, even when sick you can get them eating medicated foods etc.

He did come from a sketchy LFS though...
