35% water change to drastic

I plan on doing a 10gallon WC on a 30G tank tommarow. Looking to drop alk from 14.5 to 11.5 as bag of salt reads. Is that too drastic? I do have a clam I would rather keep alive lol [emoji23]

That would be way to big of an alk swing. You may see negative effects.of that as opposed to letting it come down naturally through coral consumption.

Are you sure your Alk is 14.5? That is high, that being said, I would drop the Alk slowly.

Yes I’m sure been using tap for three years now. Picking up a RODi tommarow. Use Red Sea and salfrit it test. Tank has ran at that levels for months if not years now. But want to get into sps and get down to the 8 range. I ordered probiotic reef salt from aquaforest to switch over too and have doser to keep up once I get it down.

Well it would not drop 3dkh in one change just 10 gallons would be 11 mixing with the 20 at 14 I’ll probably only drop 1.5 or so is that drastic?

Personally I think it’s fine.
I’ve done it with clams.
But no high end acros. Just run of the mill acros zoas shrooms leathers acans.

Yea just wondering going to drop it with IO the. Switch over to AF ProBio salt. To get down to the 8 level.

Was just wondering if one dkh more a less a week is drastic decline in this situation were I want it.

If you’re ur going to lower it to 8. Just use the salt with 8 for the wc.
Or , let it fall to around 8.
