Hello,

I am going from a 36 gal bowfront with mainly HOB gear to a 350 Reefer w/ a sump. I have been reading as much as possible but thought it would be helpful to post my plan and build to welcome any feedback I may be missing.

I plan to transfer my livestock, live rock, and water to the new 350 reefer. I will be using live rock from the 350 reefer who I am purchasing from and will make the remaining water a couple nights before using Red Sea (Blue Bucket) salt mix. I will not use my sand in my previous sand and will use 80 lbs of caribsea pink arag-alive sand. From what I understand, the tank should not need cycled.

Equipment:
Pump: Sicce Silent 4.0
Heater: 200W Eheim
ATO: Tunze 3155
Powerhead: MP40 x 1 (May add another once budge permits)
Lights: ReefLED 90 x 2 w/ mounts.
Skimmer: Reef Octopus 150-S Classic

Few questions:
1. I thought about buying the BRS Deluxe Reactor. Am I able to just buy carbon Media and put it in a high flow area in the sump or in the filter socks that come with the unit?
2. If I use the filter cups as opposed to socks, what is a good filter floss to use?
3. As far as short term redundancy, I just plan to get an APC battery backup.
4. What is everyone doing for cord management.

Livestock:
I currently have in my 36 gallon bowfront:
1 x yellow tang
1 x watchman goby
1 x coral beauty
2 x clownfish
1 x lawnmower blenny

I am thinking of adding a few wrasse, blue tang, and porcpine puffer. I just had a few Zoas in my last tank with poor lighting but plan to move towards some other softies And LPS and give it time before jumping into SPS.

I really appreciate any feedback!

-Matt

1. Reactors are more efficient.
2. Filter floss is fine.
3. Good to have
4. I don't mind my birds nest of cords. Made some one can chime in.

Only things I might add to what Flippers already noted is I'd maybe wait on the reactor unless you know you need it. When I upgraded I thought I would buy one but it's been 6 months and I haven't had a need for it so it's still sitting in a box and my bank account is a few bucks lighter.

And as far as cord management goes I used a lot of the adhesive zip tie holders, zip ties and velcro cord wraps and mine could still use some improvement.

Off subject, but can you give me the exact measurements of the cabinet where the sump sits? I plan on custom ordering a drip tray that fits under the sump and within that left cabinet slot and I tried reaching out to red sea customer service with no response.

Blue Tang and Porcupine Puffer are too large for that tank, and the Porky will cause havoc with your coral
