I'm always amazed at tanks like this. The coral just happily growing all around each other without all out chemical warfare. Just stunning!!!

Thanks there is bits of scrapping going on. I find the acropora are usually ok and usually beat montipora up. Stylophora and pocillopora have burnt some acropora. I usually just let it play out but sometimes you have to intervene

Looks like you need to upgrade to a bigger tank. Very nice tank. Are you still dosing manually?

Thankyou I am still dosing manually ...I have a doser but I havnt set it up yet. In July I will either upgrade or pull it down and start again,it depends on if buy the house or not really.

It's impressive the amount of growth from the first picture to the one posted today. I was still manually dosing up until a month ago. So happy I switched to an auto doser.

This is my rescue coral it was white about 4 weeks ago

This is a wild coral I have had a piece for 5 years or more. We call it the ugly..I think it's far from it.

I don't have a tank thread yet. I just got my parts for my stand, sump, and overflow, so once I can put some stuff together I'll make a thread. Since switching to the auto doser, it has really helped with maintaining levels. If I didn't have it, I would've had an alk spike due to the consumption rate of the frags I'm growing out. To give an idea of consumption rate, my green monti cap grows 1-2mm a day. My setosa frag has grown from 1/8" to 1/4" in various areas in ~3 months. Right now I'm trying to get my calc back into a normal range because I've noticed growth has slowed. It hasn't stopped, just much slower. Calc is stuck at 350 and I'm manually dosing to get it back up.

Yes manual dosing is a pain... I was getting a bit over 1.6kh swing a day. So I now split the dose . I'm dosing 500ml of alk a day but I use a weaker mix of 100 grams of carbonate per 2 litres. I am looking forward to fitting my doser but life etc gets in the way. Do you dose mag? I don't seem to have any real mag consumption.

I dose about 10ml of mag per day. I do this to keep the mag at ~1350 - 1400. I dose 10ml of alk and 15 ml of calc. I use the ESV B-Ionic supplements. If I don't dose mag, it drops fairly quickly and then I get large swings in my alk. I am using the Kamoer 3 pump doser. It was really easy to setup. The calibration portion is really easy.

I recommend calibrating, then letting it run a day or so into a beaker or something so you can measure how much it doses. This is what I did for about a week with the jebao doser I initially used. That thing lost the siphon while I was on vacation. It kept losing its siphon even though I flipped the rollers. I tried putting tape on the rollers to increase the pressure on the tube. Nothing worked, so I bought a Kamoer 3 pump doser. It was pricey, but I love it.
