So I recently lost my clowns, somehow they got in the skimmer box attachment for my CPR BakPak 2. They were the only residents of the tank. I haven't done any stocking with the holidays. It is a FOWLR right now, I haven't decided if I will do corals in it or not so I am open to any ideas! The tanks dimensions are 30x12x22. Also if you have any suggestions for the aquascape I am open to that as well (even though it's not the right forum).

Edit: I am interested in chalk bass!

For now, I'd recommend Firefish, royal gramma, small wrasse (lots to choose from), cardinal...

Inverts are lots of fun too! I love my conch and fire shrimps!
Firefish have never grabbed my attention enough to bring one home. I think it is their shy nature. I also didn't think any wrasses would be appropriate with the tank size.

Royal gramma
possum or pink streak wrasse
blennies
watchman gobies
cardinals
What about this for stocking?
Chalk bass x1
Cardinal x1 (group of 3 if possible)
Benny x1
Wrasse (possum or pink streak)

If I did only 1 cardinal could I have a pair of clowns?

That's pretty reasonable.

Depending on what cardinal, 1 might be best. Some cardinals are more social. Some (bangaii) will fight unless a m/f pair.

I think I am going to go with a stocking like this. I was leaning more towards bangaii or pajama just based on availability near me. I didn't know there were quite a few other that were in that same family. Do I need to worry about stocking in any particular order to minimize issues?

Normally, it's least aggressive to most. I don't see any potential issues with your list though. The wrasse would be the wimpiest, so I might try to source one of those first if you really want one.

Thank you for your help! I think I'm going to go with:
Pair of Clowns
Blenny x1
Chalk Bass x1
Cardinal x1

Not sure if I want to try and hunt down one of the wrasses mentioned or find something else that will fit in. Too many decisions lol
