So let me preface this thread with the fact that my previous aquarium experience comes from an overstocked mixed cichlid tank. Overstocking helped curb my more aggressive fish with the downside of having more maintenance. I love having a high activity tank.
On to my newest tank, my 38 gallon reef which currently has the following:
Blood Orange Clown
Coral Beauty
Neon Dottyback
Scissortail Dartfish
Skunk Cleaner
Sifting Star
Pincussion Urchin
5ish Hermits
3ish Snails
40 lbs live rock
Zoa, xenia, blue cespitularia, green star polyp, candy cane coral as well.
My water parameters have been pretty steady and the tank is doing pretty well for being less than 3 months old. (Full 2 months of cycling from dry rock). The CAB, clown and dottyback get along fairly well and have not bothered eachother. My scissortail is eating regularly but hides in the rockwork during the day and is bullied by the dottyback. When I have the ability I was going to remove the scissortail (was a impulse buy... added him too late) but am now considering removing the dottyback. It would crush me but I would get over it.
Last week I decided to add my last fish, a six line wrasse. Decided to add him last based on a friends recommendation. My dottyback is a menace and murdered a six line.
I am used to having tons of movement in my tank and was wondering what peoples initial thoughts were on adding/removing anything else. Any coral/invert recommendations that move a fair amount? Should I just be patient and resist with my constant desire to add?
Thanks!
