I am going to be changing tanks soon to my 38g bow front.
It does have a flat lid and I prefer to keep a lid. However, what lights should I get?
I have mixed reef and of course a couple fish.

Thanks!

What kind of budget? Any features you want in particular? Do you care if it is a hanging light vs mounted with an arm?

PS I like your profile pic :)

Budget - average cost. Low to med? I don't want anything extravagant. Features - I'm not sure. Simple, easy. I would prefer mounted.

Thank you for responding, helping, and the compliment. :)

I can think of a couple options. But again, an exact price range would be helpful as you could spend quite literally anywhere from $140-$900.
Do you have the dimensions? I am thinking of a couple of options right now, most notably smartfarm leds if you use an arm, or quanta (or orphek) bars if you can hang them.

It's approx 29x15. Around <$200...depending.

Ok great. So 29 long and 15 deep? Or is it 29 tall?

Regardless, I was thinking of the smatfarm led or two nicrew 50w's for that price. The smatfarm is a higher quality light but the nicrews will give better coverage depending on the length of the tank

Yes, 29 long, 15 deep. Again, thank you so very much!

What about a planted type led?
I also do like the ones that are automatic, on a timer that sunrise/sundown.....

The Smatfam has sunrise and sunset.

I would not do a plant led. They often have much lower par levels (i.e. intensity) than reef lights and are often much more inefficient (in terms of spectrum) for growing corals.

Ok. Good to know.
